Timetabling means scheduling activities to time slots in an order by satisfying hard constraints and soft constraints. Hard constraints should be satisfied but the violations of soft constraints to be minimized. This problem can be done in Artificial Intelligence or Operations Research domain. Class Timetabling of Undergraduate Science courses of Pondicherry University was implemented using Steepest-Ascent Hill Climbing algorithm and is compared with the proposed approach with heuristics for class timetabling implementation. By analyzing the results obtained in both the methods, significance of applying heuristics to get the optimal solution has been established.Keywords

The conventional authentication system only requests the user to provide the authorized account and password to log into the system once they start to use a computer or a terminal. However, under this authentication framework, the machine can only recognize the user’s identity from the login information. It lacks the information to know who is using it. The common drawback of the one-time authentication system, which people use in the daily life, is that when the user leaves the seat for a short break, i.e., to get some documents or have a drink, anyone can sneak up to the computer and pretend to be the authorized user to access their data, or do anything under a fake identity. Later on, nobody will know who used the computer. This kind of security defect is not acceptable in some applications with the sensitive data, for example, the banking financial record or the customer personal information, the military industry, and the business confidentiality. To avoid this disadvantage soft biometrics is used. Hence the project suggests the use of Soft biometrics for user identification .Only an authorized user can login, user id and password is used in the computer application. As soon as the login process is completed soft biometrics start functioning. In soft biometrics a webcam is used that functions in the background. A webcam continuously takes the image of the person in real time and segregates the face from the whole image. Once the face is identified it keeps track of the face. Viola Jones algorithm is used to detect the face with various postures such as movement of face, etc. The identification can also be done even with spectacles and beard and mustaches. This greatly improves the authentication process. Whenever a person moves away from his place the soft biometrics fails and looks for face. If it’s not able to find face within a short time it immediately locks the computer.

There are significant research interests in the pH control problem because of its industrial importance and the fact that pH process is one of the most difficult challenges to control. A control strategy based on internal model controller for (hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide) pH neutralization process has been developed by identifying its second order transfer function. Here, the flow rate of acid is kept constant and base flow rate is varied by using controller design based on internal model control strategy. The process of identifying the system model based on the mass balance equation is presented. The comparative study on IMC with filter for different lambda, IMC-PID for different lambda and PI controller are presented. The validated result are evaluated on the basis of the simulation carried on pH neutralization process.Keywords

This paper presents a novel grid-connected boost-full-bridge photovoltaic (PV) micro-inverter system and its control implementations. The concept of micro-inverter is a future trend for grid connected Photovoltaic micro-inverter. Increasing demand on the renewable energy sources has made the grid connected inverter systems to be more important than ever before. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technique is implemented which is used by the grid connected inverters to get the maximum power from one or more photovoltaic device, typically solar panels. The Z source network is used to get the steady state. Interleaving of the Boost DC-DC converter is carried out to get more boosts up the voltage and better efficiency. A new multilevel inverter topology constituting of an H-bridge structure with four switches connected to the DC link. Based on Phase Opposition Disposition technique a new PWM method requires only one carrier signal is suggested.

Objectives: To assess various Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) against various types of attacks in different environments like Web, Enterprise, Cloud, etc. and to propose architecture for improving the Snort based IDS performance during typical attacks. Methods: Analytical approach was used to survey various research papers in this field of research. Findings: In this research, various approaches of IDS were analysed in various aspects like Detection Accuracy, False Alarm Rate, Scalability and Capability of detecting unknown attacks. Some approaches focused on particular type of issues while ignoring the others. This lead to performance degrading in several cases which is not tolerable in real time scenarios. Improvements: Among various studied approaches, we chose Snort based IDS to improve its performance in order to deploy in enterprise networks. Being an Open Source Software, Snort gives the flexibility to improve its functionality. We propose architecture to improve Snort's detection rate and to reduce the packet drops during critical attacks like Port Scanning, DoS, DDoS Attacks, etc.Keywords

In recent times, Social media has emerged as a personal communication media, as well as, a media to convey reviews about items and benefits or even political and general occasions among its clients. By using web and the web 2.0 the information in Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are easily retrieved. Because of its use across the board and prevalence, there is a monstrous measure of client surveys or feelings delivered and shared day by day. Mining client sentiments from Social Media is definitely not a straight forward assignment; it can be proficient in various ways. Gathering client sentiments can be costly and tedious assignment utilizing traditional strategies. This paper examines the challenges in doing sentimental analysis for Social Media.Keywords

Shopping centre consists of variety of product items like food, beverages and household products. The main aim of shopping centre is to provide availability of all goods and conserve the time of the consumer. But sometimes consumer gets irritated by waiting in the queue at billing counter and they can confused while estimating the overall cost of all the goods with the money in their pocket before billing. To defeat these difficulties we have designed a smart trolley using Barcode scanner and Arduino. In this system, the consumer cannot be wait in the queue for the scanning of each products for the purpose of billing. Shopping centres provide the membership card to the consumers. When the consumer inserts the membership card in the trolley then only it acts as smart. Otherwise it works as a normal trolley. By using this method, shopping centres have the opportunity to increase the number of consumers.

Objective:This study was designed to determine the role of leukotriene receptor antagonist as an add on therapy to β2-agonists in acute asthma. Methods: A prospective study carried out in ESIC hospital in which the total number of 100 patients were enrolled. The study has two arms, the group A treated with salbutamol alone and the group B treated with salbutamol and montelukast. The symptomatic changes and variation in pulmonary function test (PFT), pulse rate (PR), respiratory rate (RR) were compared between both the group. The data were collected, compiled, analysed with statistical tools (SPSS – Microsoft Version 6). Results: In comparison of force expiratory volume % (FEV1 PRED) between the group A and group B, after 24 hours significant change was noticed in group B. The results of forced expiratory volume/forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC%) shows a significant difference after 24 hours of the treatment with salbutamol in group A and salbutamol plus leukotriene receptor antagonist (Montelukast) from the baseline measurement. Base line asthma score shows p value (p = 0.58). But after 48 hours, significant change was noticed in both groups. p value was significant (p = 0.05). In group B, asthma score was significantly improved with passage of time. Conclusion: The study revealed the effectiveness of leukotriene receptor antagonist in preventing many types of aggravated asthmatic responses. Once-daily treatment with 10 mg of montelukast, as compared with β2-agonists, provided significant protection against severe broncho-constriction. Parameters strongly confirmed the role of leukotriene receptor antagonist when in addition added with β2-agonists.Keywords
